Starting your morning with the right hot drink can have a lasting effect on the rest of the day. Whether you prefer a rich coffee or a comforting spiced blend, there are plenty of options to help you feel energised and ready for the day ahead. Below are some of my favourite morning tea and coffee recommendations to try that will hopefully help you wake up, or at least make you want to leave your bed a little more willingly, rather than dragging your feet into the day!
Coffee Recommendations
Nespresso's Café Joyeux Cereal & Biscuity coffee is a gentle and subtle morning coffee with an intensity rating of 5 out of 12. It is one of my personal favourites, with notes of toasted cereals, biscuits and a subtle hint of nuts.
It also works amazingly for warmer mornings. If you prefer a chilled drink, this coffee makes a wonderful base for an Iced Spanish Latte. Traditionally made with espresso, milk and a touch of sweetened condensed milk, an Iced Spanish Latte offers a smooth, creamy texture and is so good! It can be customised with your preferred milk, whether that's dairy milk or an alternative. I love to use oat Milk and serve it over ice for a refreshing start to the day.
The brand also supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by helping them gain meaningful employment opportunities. Supporting initiatives like this can help create opportunities, encourage inclusion and make a genuine difference in people's lives.
If you enjoy flavoured coffee, Little's Rich Hazelnut Coffee Capsules are an excellent choice. Made from a smooth blend of roasted and ground Arabica coffee, these capsules deliver warm, toasty hazelnut notes with a naturally sweet character.
This is another coffee that I genuinely enjoy. The flavour almost reminds me of chocolate and roasted nuts, with a taste that is surprisingly similar to Nutella. The result is a rich, aromatic and comforting coffee that feels indulgent without being overpowering.
Tea Recommendations

If you cannot decide between coffee, tea and hot chocolate, Bird & Blend's Mocha Chai offers a combination of all three. The blend combines Sri Lankan black tea, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, ginger, coffee beans and cardamom to create a rich, malty and warming drink.
This is a loose leaf tea, but I normally use disposable tea bags, adding a teaspoon to the bag, then adding hot water and leaving for around three minutes before adding a dash of milk, although this is completely optional.
This organic black tea blend combines robust tea leaves with warming spices, including ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper. It smells amazing and is available as either loose leaf or in ready-to-use tea bags.
The packaging is also beautiful, with a striking tiger on the front that reflects the wider aims behind the tea. Kusmi Tea partnered with WWF through the Tx2 project, an initiative that aimed to double the wild tiger population by 2022, the Year of the Tiger in the Chinese zodiac. For every box of Tchaï of the Tiger purchased, the brand committed to donating €1 to support the cause.
Clearspring's Premium Grade Matcha is a finely ground powder made from the finest organic Japanese green tea leaves, shade-grown in the hills of Uji, Kyoto. It provides a steady release of energy because of its combination of caffeine and L-theanine and has a rich, earthy flavour that becomes silky and smooth when paired with milk.
Matcha can be prepared in a variety of ways depending on your preference. Traditionally, around 1/4 teaspoon (1g) is whisked with 30ml of hot water to create a smooth, lump-free paste before adding your choice of milk.
I personally enjoy it with warm milk for a comforting matcha latte. I also use an electric whisk, such as the Aerolatte Electric Matcha Frother, which creates a beautifully frothy texture. It is equally delicious poured over ice for a refreshing iced version on warmer mornings.
If you're short on time, the Alpro Matcha Coconut drink is also a great option and a good introduction to matcha if you're initially unsure whether it's for you.
I like to have this an hour or so after I have had something to eat in the morning. It feels light, refreshing and cleansing, and green tea has long been associated with supporting digestion, which is one of the reasons I enjoy it so much.
This delicate blend combines green tea with fragrant rose petals, creating a floral and refreshing drink. The light caffeine content of green tea offers a gentle morning lift, while the rose notes add elegance and sophistication.
This blend combines Chinese Sencha Green Tea, air-dried pear pieces, jasmine blossom and natural flavouring.
It genuinely tastes like poached pear, making it a lovely choice if you are looking for something a little different to have in the morning. The delicate jasmine notes pair beautifully with the sweetness of the pear.
