Things we're Loving
Adult World follows a recent graduate that wants to be a writer and poet, but after repeated rejections she is forced to take a job at a local store. Played by Emma Roberts and Evan Peters as the love interest, she goes through a period of identity crisis, disappointment and emotional frustration familiar with many graduates. The film captures the messy, often comedic struggle of trying to find purpose when adulthood looks very different to how you imagined.
Down and Out in Paris and London by George Orwell is an account of his experiences living in extreme poverty. Orwell describes life in Paris, working in restaurants while destitute and surviving on very little money, and in London, where he becomes homeless. Through these experiences, he exposes the daily struggles of the poor and examines poverty, class inequality, and the failures of social systems in both cities in the early twentieth century.
A grieving, Pulitzer-winning author becomes dangerously obsessed with her enigmatic new neighbour, whose dark past ignites a psychological cat-and-mouse game that blurs the lines between truth, manipulation, and her own inner demons.
